We fully embrace the primary meaning of collegium: a gathering of individuals with common interests in which each member is equal. New Collegium is united by a fascination with baroque music and instruments, and motivated by their power to communicate with 21st century audiences.

Since our foundation in 2006, we have been known as Collegium Musicum Den Haag; we’re moving forward as New Collegium. In this way we connect 18th century origin to our 21st century context.

De keuze van Klara (October 2019)

No eighteenth-century composer was so adept at so many musical styles as Georg Philipp Telemann. Telemann’s versatility and inventiveness kept his musical style avant-garde throughout his lifetime. That’s why we designed this program: to showcase the breadth of his musical palette.

‘A product of the new century, with musicians who have read all the Baroque treatises but have not let knowledge thwart instinct. The music is alive with passion and permeated by a contagious good mood. Everything speaks of joyous discoveries and extreme competence. A breath of fresh air.’ — Fanfare
